ABOUT ME

Haya Zaatry is a Palestinian musician, architect and researcher (B.Arch & MSc in Architecture), born and raised in Nazareth and based in Haifa. Both in architecture and in music, Haya works towards unpacking social and political structures.

Haya conducted her master’s research at the Technion where she wrote her thesis “Revived Palestinian Urbanity in Haifa: City, Place, Culture & Identity”. She works and volunteers with different grassroot organizations, such as SDC-Haifa, on projects like “Our Right to the City”, aiming to improve the conditions of Palestinian residents in the Arab neighbourhoods of Haifa.

Haya is currently working at “Bimkom – planners for planning rights”, as an architect and project manager of “Women and The Local Authorities”, a project funded by the European Union (2021-2023).

The project aims to increase the role of marginalized women in gender-sensitive spatial planning and development, combining professional knowledge with local knowledge through workshops about planning and the planning system, human rights and gender.
